Our Values / Tikanga

Supporting The Tiaki Promise

Tiaki means 'to care and protect' in Te Reo Māori. The Tiaki Promise is a commitment to care for New Zealand for now and for future generations. Help by protecting our land, our sea, and our culture.

Trees That Count: Growing Good Together

One of our core values/Tikanga is Kaitiakitanga - Actively protecting and nurturing people, place, land and sea. Meet The Makers Tours recognises hauora o te taonga (the health of the species and ecosystems), and want to make it easy for our guests to create canopies of carbon-sequesting native trees for future generations to enjoy, by planting a tree.
Every booking made with Meet The Makers Tours helps the environment, we donate $10 per booking to gift a tree.
Please help us further by gifting a tree.

Plastic Free Raglan - Xtreme Zero Waste

Whāingaroa Kirihou Kore
Meet the Makers is an ambassador for Plastic Free Raglan (PFR). We share this Kaupapa (principle) far and wide to normalise reuse and significantly reduce single use waste. PFR's focus is single use habits, encouraging our community and visitors to embrace plastic free, reusable cups, bottles, straws, containers, cutlery etc.

Raglan is recognised as the eco-friendly heart of NZ, and a leading example of responsible and sustainable tourism ~Carry your keep-cup and refillable water bottle ~ Never accept a bag – carry yours with you. Raglan people are warm and welcoming. We encourage generosity, compassion, and kindness in all relationships, and we encourage our visitors to behave ‘the Raglan way’.
